Why Winter Is the Best Time to Start Brazilian Waxing

If you’ve ever thought, “I’ll start waxing closer to summer” — this one’s for you.

Because here’s the truth: winter is actually the best time to begin Brazilian waxing, whether it’s your first-ever appointment or you’re getting back into a routine.

Less pressure. More consistency. Better results by the time warm weather rolls around.

Let’s break down exactly why starting in winter sets you up for smoother skin long-term — plus everything you need to know to feel confident booking your appointment.

Winter = The Perfect Time to Get on a Hair Growth Cycle

Waxing works best when you stay consistent. Over time, regular waxing:

  • Thins the hair

  • Slows regrowth

  • Makes each appointment easier and more comfortable

Winter gives you the freedom to commit to a routine without worrying about last-minute beach days or pool invites. When you start now and wax every 4–6 weeks, your hair begins to grow on a cycle — meaning by spring and summer, your waxes are quicker, smoother, and lower maintenance.

Think of winter waxing as training season for your skin.

Less Sweat = Happier Skin

One of the biggest post-wax rules? Avoid sweating for 24–48 hours.

Winter makes that so much easier.

Cooler temps mean:

  • Less irritation

  • Less friction

  • Lower risk of ingrowns and breakouts

Your skin has more time to heal properly, which leads to better results overall — especially for Brazilian waxes.

You Can Let the Hair Grow (Without Stress)

Waxing requires growth — and winter clothing is very forgiving.

For best results:

  • Brazilian wax: 3–4 weeks of growth

  • Legs & underarms: About 2 weeks, or hair the length of a grain of rice

Winter is the season of leggings, sweats, and layers — which means you can let your hair grow without constantly thinking about it. No rushing. No shaving “just in case.”

First-Time Waxers: Winter Is Especially Ideal

If you’re new to waxing, winter gives you space to:

  • Learn proper aftercare

  • Understand your regrowth pattern

  • Build tolerance over time

And if you’re nervous — that’s totally normal. But let me remind you:
I wax coochies for a living. I’ve seen it all. You’re in very good hands.

How to Prep for Your Winter Wax

You don’t need to do anything fancy, but a little prep goes a long way:

🚫 Skip lotions and oils on the area day of before your appointment

💊 Take an antihistamine if you’re worried about discomfort

🍷 Avoid alcohol — it thins your blood and can increase sensitivity

🩸 If you’re on your period, lightly exfoliate a few days before

💧 Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate — hydrated skin = better waxing results

☕ Avoid Caffeine- can increase sensitivities for the nervous system

What to wear:
Loose-fitting or cotton clothing is best. And after a Brazilian? Let the girl breathe.

Post-Wax Care Matters (Especially in Winter)

After your wax, it’s normal to experience:

  • Some mild redness

  • Mild sensitivity

  • Even a little bleeding from the follicle (this actually means the hair was removed from the root — which is a good thing!)

To keep your skin happy and ingrown-free, I recommend:

  • A gentle exfoliator + hydrator *Pads or roll on from just the strip are our favorite at the spa and oils! Bushbalm also has amazing oils for the skin a little bit thicker if you ask me.

  • A bath mitt (way better than a loofah — no mold or bacteria!) *The body mitts from supracor are the fav here!

  • A pH-balanced wash for Brazilian waxes. *Just the strip pure body wash is an amazing aloe cleanser

For the first 24–48 hours, avoid:

  • Sweating or working out

  • Sexual intercourse

  • Pools, lakes, oceans, or hot tubs

  • Tight clothing or underwear

  • Any products not recommended by your esti bestie

When Will You See Regrowth?

Around two weeks post-wax, you’ll notice some regrowth — totally normal. Should be fine thin hairs. You may feel a little itchiness, which is your sign to start exfoliating. Use a body scrub or bath mitt for best results.

The good news?
With consistency, hair grows back finer and slower. Less maintenance, smoother results, and fewer ingrowns over time.

So… When Should You Come Back?

Every 4–6 weeks is ideal. This allows the hair to fully grow back so we can keep it on a cycle — making each appointment easier and more effective.

The Bottom Line

Starting Brazilian waxing in winter:

  • Sets you up for better results long-term

  • Makes consistency easier

  • Reduces irritation

  • Prepares your skin well before summer

So if waxing has been on your “one day” list — this is your sign.
